Can’t help but use a shot I took of my girl (with a bit of photo retouching in the eye) to showcase some of my gundog photography in the run up to Christmas. Only one week to go… To all the working Labradors’ out there, I wish you many happy retrieves! I know you’ll have your eye on that big fat juicy bird in the oven on Christmas Day. No doubt sample it. Fieldsports photography – It can get a bit confusing for those who know me when I say I’m going on shoot now. Not knowing whether it’s a photo shoot or a picking up shoot. Great fun working with Jo Cranston again here in Hove to do the fashion photography of her latest knitwear collections, ‘On The Road’ and ‘Clouds’. I’d already done all her studio product photography for each individual item, but this was to be a lot more fun! 37 hour queue – Wimbledon

There’s only one reason anyone in their right mind should queue for 37 hours and it certainly doesn’t involve a new iPhone launch, or the prospect of grabbing a £5 42 inch flat screen tv in the Black Friday sales. The vast majority of posts in this blog are about quirky & eccentric competitions & festivals. I started it in 2006 in France with a competition I’ll never forget. Where contestants battle it out to become the World Champion Pig Squeeler, or ‘Cri du Cochon’. I had little knowledge back then of quite how far my pursuit of these kind of events would lead me. I’ve travelled all over Britain (and occasionally further afield) to capture our curiosities and quirks. There’s nothing uniquely eccentric about the British, you’ll find people all over the world up to all sorts of weird and wonderful activities, but we do have a remarkable capacity to embrace the madness. ‘A Brit Different’ is the book that was born from it, my labour of love! So what next? There’s always something interesting going on, so watch this space, only time will tell!
