Classic Blue Pantone Colour of the Year 2020
Classic Blue, Pantone Colour 19-4052.
This tasteful solid dark blue has just been announced by Pantone as the Colour of the Year 2020. Apparently “Instilling calm, confidence, and connection, this enduring blue hue highlights our desire for a dependable and stable foundation on which to build as we cross the threshold into a new era.”
For over 20 years, Pantone’s Colour of the Year has influenced product development and purchasing decisions in multiple industries, including fashion, home furnishings, and industrial design, as well as product packaging and graphic design.
The Pantone Colour of the Year selection process requires thoughtful consideration and trend analysis. To arrive at the selection each year, Pantone’s colour experts at the Pantone Colour Institute comb the world looking for new colour influences.
Pantone can dress the colour as they like, but a similar shade to Classic Blue was chosen for a super bathroom I photographed in Brighton a couple of weeks ago. The interior designer, Sarah Rossiter of Pataross is clearly a step or two ahead of them in thinking this colour would work well in her clients bathroom. Just add touches of brass. Stunning job.
